Annie and I got up early because it's a very special day. Wednesday is the day our garbage is collected!
What makes today so extraordinary is a message that we heard at the National Outreach Convention in San Diego last month. Vince Antonucci talked about the power of servant evangelism. Simple acts of kindness to show the love of God -with no strings attached.
Vince related the story of a lady who was encouraged to bake a plate of cookies for her garbage man. Vince said that the church has engaged in big events to attract the unchurched. It's time for guerila outreach. When we heard the story it rekindled our desire to use practical minstry to reach our world 'one person at a time'.
When our Recycle Now truck pulled up this morning we handed over our precious cargo of sticky buns to an astonished driver. 'Thanks for being our garbage man" is all we said.
It never gets old.
