Developing Ministry Leaders

As we prepare for John Maxwell’s Maximum Impact leadership simulcast later this week, I am impressed with the importance of developing quality leaders within our church, Living Word Christian Center.

Leadership guru John Maxwell has taught us that leadership is influence. Motivated leaders share our vision to influence non-Christians in the Twin Cities area with God's love and mobilize our congregation to be involved in outreach.

Regardless of the size of your church the one thing all churches have in common is the need for more workers. The truth is, the bigger the vision, the more people serving and helping it takes to make that vision reality.

Ministry was never designed to be done by only a select few. Jesus had the Spirit of God without measure, yet the first thing He did upon starting His earthly ministry was to recruit leaders.

What is the best way to recruit good leaders?

John Maxwell in his book Developing the Leaders Around You, says “I really believe that it takes a leader to know a leader, grow a leader, and show a leader. I have also found that it takes a leader to attract a leader.”

The best thing that we can do to assure the success of the ministry vision God has given us is to invest in our own leadership skills.

If you desire to develop leadership within your team, then pay the price of getting better. Personal growth involves challenging yourself, and pushing beyond the realm of comfort. As you grow and improve as a leader, so will those that you lead.

That said, it’s not too late to register for John’s Maxwell Maximum Impact Simulcast this Friday at Living Word Christian Center. See you there!
